Total Finger Release Notes

What's New or Improved in Version 2.00

Microsoft Windows XP support

If you use Total Finger under the Microsoft Windows XP (or Windows .NET), then Total Finger will now use the current "skin" scheme which is currently active allowing it to look like the rest of the Operating System.

If you don't use Microsoft Windows XP, you don't have to worry as Total Finger will be displayed as normal and will not conflict with the running of MS Windows.

Microsoft Office 2000 toolbars

Total Finger now uses the same type of "toolbar technology" as the lastest Microsoft Office suites, this makes the toolbars easier to use and cleaner as the unused menu items are hidden until they are used again. You also have the ability to customise the toolbars to your preference.

Colour Schemes

You can now create your own custom colour schemes, or select one of the schemes that is installed with Total Finger. Colour Scheming allows you to change all the colour attributes of the results screen, such as the gutter, background colour, selection colour etc. The colour scheming support can be found from the configuration screen.

View / Resource Panels

By default Total Finger now displays a View / Resource panel on the left side of the results screen, this pannel allows you to view or retrieve more information straight from inside Total Finger about the latest version of Total Finger or products from FrostySoft.

Multiple viewing of results

If you query more than one site from within Total Finger, Total Finger now opens up a new window for each query, making it easier to navigate and read multiple .plan files. If you find that the screen is full of windows you no longer need open, you can easily close this from the File menu.

Other Changes

  • Because version 2.00 is a full re-write of the programme, when you upgrade from an older version, your current configuraion will not be updated.
  • Ability to save the results to the following file formats - Text, HTML & RTF
  • Sound event support, now allowing you to select sounds to be played on various events from within Total Finger
  • Changed configuration screen, now easier to use and read.

Known Issues

  • The finger server which is available when registered is currently in beta and may not be 100% stable in the first beta release.
